When binding Amazon data Pacvue is able to lookback 60 days upon the date of connection (Note: each retailer has a different data lookback window). Historical data outside of the API’s lookback window can be uploaded on the backend via excel data in the proper format. See the below processes for Search and DSP historical data backfills.
Search Data Backfill
In general, Pacvue is able to accommodate campaign level data backfill request. Ad Group, Keyword, and ASIN level data backfill request may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis since they require more resources to complete. A key format of the excel data is that it MUST BE IN A DAILY DATE SEGMENTATION.
Here is an example of a properly formatted excel file that is properly formatted for upload. Columns in RED are required columns. Base metrics such as Impression, Spend, Clicks, Orders, and Sales should be included as well. Calculated metrics such as ACOS, CVR, CPC, and CTR are not required as they can be calculated from the base metrics although if those metrics are part of the report that is OK.
Search Data Backfill Resources
- See attached 'Amazon - Campaign Level Data Backfill' file at the bottom of this article to download the campaign level excel backfill template.
- Reference the attachment 'Instruction on how to Pull Campaign ID Profile ID' below for more detailed information on where to get those data points for the backfill template.
Archived Properties
Due to limitations with the API's ability to pull archived properties (Campaigns, Ad Groups, Keywords, etc.) into Pacvue we may not be able to backfill data for properties that have been put into an archived state.
Amazon Search Data Backfill Source
To backfill Amazon search data you need to identify a source of historical data. The most common source of historical data are:
- Reports from your previous ad tech provider.
- Your own database if you've been regularly collecting data through scheduled Amazon reports via the Amazon Ads Console or pulling data directly from your own API connection.
- Reports pulled by your Amazon Account Rep.
- A onetime report pull from the Amazon Ads Console.
Reports from your previous ad tech provider or your own database are the best sources of historical data. Relying on your Amazon Account Rep as a source of historical data is a hit or miss and their willingness to pull that data for you depends on various factors.
Onetime report pulls from the Measurements & Reporting section in the Amazon Ads Console has limitations and may not make a good data source due to the varying lookback windows in the reporting for each ad type.
| Ad Type | Max Campaign Report Lookback Window |
| Sponsored Product | 5 years |
| Sponsored Brand | 90 days |
| Sponsored Display | 90 days |
Using a onetime report from the Amazon Ads Console would only work if you only had Sponsored Product campaigns running in a profile. If you were to use the Amazon Ads Console Reports for Sponsored Products data backfill, then an important configuration would be to set the Time Unit of the report to "Daily".
Amazon DSP Data Backfill Source
Historical Amazon DSP data can be generated directly from the native Amazon Ad Console. Data can be backfilled at the Advertiser, Order, Line Item, and Creative level from a single report. Follow the below report configurations when pulling data from the native DSP console for backfill purposes.
Where to Send the Data?
Provide the historical data in the proper format to your Pacvue contact.
Note
- The SLA to backfill the data will vary depending on the level of data that is being backfilled but expect a 3-7 business day SLA.
- Backfilling data on the backend requires extra resources from the dev team, so there may be additional fees to backfill data.
